MENU PLAN MONDAY

After the rough start to the weekend with my li'l Michael and his medical emergency (read more here), I am pleased that I was able to still accomplish some things around the house this weekend!  I spent time cleaning out my full-size freezer in the basement tonight.  I've taken stock of what I have on hand in my home.  Therefore, my meal plan is, for the most part, going to be based on what I want to use up from the freezer.

This is what my Stolen Moments plan would be and
how I'll modify it to fit my needs.
(If you want to learn more about the menu service that I use,
click the link over on the top right in my sidebar):

Monday, January 25
Southwest Chicken and Potato Casserole
(perfect!  I have lots of chicken breast and potatoes)

Tuesday, January 26
Salisbury Steak
Mashed Potatoes
Brocolli
(another good one for freezer clean out eating.
We have lots of ground beef and potatoes)

Wednesday, January 27
Should be "Upside Down Pizza" according to my Stolen Moments menu, but I don't think I'll be trying this recipe this week, as I want to eat from our freezer for the most part - maybe next week.  Perhaps we'll eat the Pork Chops from the freezer that night.
Double baked potatoes (from Market Day)
Some type of frozen veggies.

Thursday, January 28
Chili Cheddar Penne
Skillet Corn
(honestly, can't decide if we'll do this or not.  It's meatless, but it does sound good.  I may make it as a side with some
chicken breast that I need to use)

Friday, January 29
Crockpot Ham and Beans
Corn Bread
(have a ham that needs to be cooked too - this should work into our week's meals nicely!)

Saturday, January 30
Captain Crunch Chicken
Mapleglazed carrots
French Fries
(yum.  Can't wait to try this recipe.  Have the chicken breast already.  Recipe suggests frying but gives instructions on how to bake it as well - I'll do that.)

Sunday, January 31
Homemade Pizza
(here again, I'll just follow loosely.  Stolen Moments gave me a recipe that makes everything from scratch, and I'll try that if/when I'm not too busy, but we have a neighborhood store that sells pizza set-ups and my thought is that we'll make pizzas that way. :-) )

What are you serving your family this week??

Feels Great to Purge! and Menu Plan Monday

Oops.  I didn't get my meal plan up until just now.  Wow, today I was totally sidetracked from my routine.  My plan is at the bottom of the post (again, thanks to Stolen Moments!)  I did the best I could to keep the kids on track with schoolwork, but I really got "lost" in organizing the front room and the little kids' room.  Once I started, I couldn't find a good point to leave it until later - and I was really motivated.  I filled two large bags with things that I dropped off at a local Amvets drop off location and I filled about 1 full bag of garbage.  It feels great.  I also am almost caught up with laundry.  The clean laundry table is full to the brim and I intend to weed out any clothing that doesn't deserve a spot in the newly cleaned out closet and drawers.  Feels great!

As great as it feels now to have two rooms of my house totally cleared of clutter . . . everything is in its place. . . tomorrow I have to get my head back into 'business'!  I have numerous Clever Container calls I am looking forward to making.  There is a lot of new interest after the holiday break.  I have 8 people to call back about hosting and/or the opportunity.  Woo-hoo.  I love it!!  I am also very excited about listening in on several training teleconference calls this month.  Have I mentioned that I am leading the Opportunity Call again on the 19th of this month - I was so nervous the first time I led an opportunity call.  Email me if you are interested in listening in to learn more about the business opportunity.  What do you have to lose besides clutter?!?  :-)

How about you?  How has your new year started out?  Start with one closet, or one drawer. . . once you get that momentum, it will spur you on!

Now, for food this week:

Monday's Dinner
Brown's Chicken (thanks Mom! - I was seriously sidetracked from everything, including making dinner!)

MENU PLAN MONDAY

I do hope that everybody had a wonderful Christmas.  Today, Sunday, we overslept for church :-(  While that felt badly, we still had a pretty good day otherwise.  We basically did nothing. . . and that is the best thing to do some days (can I get an "amen"?)  I did get to challenge my children on our new Wii - and specifically on the Hula Hoop activity on the Wii Fit Plus program.  I am the reigning champ - and my boys are all working diligently on trying to beat mom's score (insert giggling).  Though I would be much less than honest to not also share with you, my readers, that the Wii Fit also suggests that my "Wii Fit Age" is 42 (not too bad, but since I am only 38 it smarted a bit) and I am right on the line that seperates the normal weight from the overweight - so I have quite a bit of 'shaping up' to do!

Anyway, you are here to take a peek at the Garcia menu plan for the week of December 28, 2009 through January 3rd, 2010!!  I said "2010" but I still can't believe it myself!  By the week's end we will be in a new year!  Well, here is what we are eating (as usual, these meals were planned for me from Stolen Moments and you can learn more about their menu service by clicking the link at the top right side of my blog):

Monday, December 28

Check out throughout the week for posts on getting organized for the new year!  I'd love to have you follow my blog!!

MENU PLAN MONDAY

This week is an exception to my normal routine.  Last night, my children were all in the Christmas Program at church and we had a dinner before hand, so I rec'd leftovers of mashed potatoes and corn.  That sparked me putting together Shepherds Pie tonight. :-)  Easy peasy.  Then, on Thursday, Christmas eve, I have a roughed up list, but honestly still have to grocery shop for everything for that.  Friday, Christmas Day (Merry, Merry Christmas All!!!) I will be over at my in-laws.  Anyway, here is what it looks like this week:

Monday, December 21st
Shepherds Pie (thanks Parkwood people!)

Tuesday, December 22nd
Crockpot Beef & Barley Soup
Maple Oat Bread

Wednesday, December 23rd
Chili
Corn Muffins

Thursday, December 24th
Christmas Eve Dinner (hosted here at my home - with my side of the family)
HoneyBaked Ham
Prime Rib Roast
Mashed and Sweet Potatoes
Veggie Casserole
Corn
Rolls

Friday, December 25th

Not sure what is else is all on the menu, but always delicious
Gramma's Christmas cookies (everyone's favorite)

(Actually, it would be a GREAT gift idea for a busy mom on your list - and they are running a special until Christmas too!) I was the lucky winner of six month menu service from them, and it has been such a blessing, I can't even tell you!  Menu planning was never my strong suit . . . and this is so easy to follow and my family has loved all (except one, honestly) of the recipes so far!!

This Sunday, the 20th, we will be having family over to celebrate our Danny's 8th birthday (Happy birthday my sweet, sweet Danny boy!).  I won't follow the suggested meal for that day - - we will have party food.  I'm leaning toward picking up 50 pcs. of chicken from Popeyes and making baked mostaccoli.  Then we just put together a salad, have bread and butter, and of course, cake and ice cream.  Whala (sp?) birthday celebration is handled!

Menu Plan Monday

Hmmm, I'll have to take care with what I post here on my blog. . . .
Last night, I posted on the lack of snow contributing to the lack of Christmas feelings. This morning, I awoke to a beautiful snow-white covered world! J

Here is what I am going to be making for mi familia this week, thanks again to Stolen Moments. Just like all my other Menu Plan Monday posts, this is this week's menu I received from Kate Miller over at Stolen Moments Menu Planning. For those who aren't aware, I was the fortunate winner of a giveaway and now am the lucky recipient of a weekly menu plan, complete with grocery list and all. Second, it gives me a lot of new meals to put in front of my family, and we have found a bunch of meals that we love!! Third, they tailor it to you and your family. Your family size, your likes/dislikes, the methods you like to cook with (I like the crock pot, especially in the winter), etc. are all taken into consideration. This is NOT a one size fits all menu service. Do yourself a favor and check them out, all you need to do is Click Here! to learn more

MENU PLAN MONDAY

This is what I will be making for my family this week.  My family is going to my brother and sister-in-law's home for Thanksgiving on Thursday, so I'm not reporting a meal for that day.  HOWEVER, I did want to let you all know, that the menu planning service that I am using, www.StolenMoments.com , DID include a full Thanksgiving meal planned for Thursday of this week - so if I were to have cooked Thanksgiving meal this year, I would have had wonderful instructions and a shopping list for this day as well!!  Even better is that they had the shopping list for that day as a separate shopping list.  Therefore, I can use the shopping list that doesn't include Thursday's meal and won't need to make any adjustments!  Yippee!

Anyway, here is this weeks meal list:

Monday
Crockpot Sausage & Sauerkraut (from last weel - never made it cuz I was sick :-( but I had the ingredients. . . in fact, I already have it in the crockpot now!

Tuesday
Crockpot Creamy Chicken
Rice
Steamed Carrots

Wednesday
Multi-Grain Pancakes
Baked Apples

Thursday
We are guests at Thanksgiving fellowship :-)

Friday
Muligatawny Stew
Side Salad

Saturday
Nacho Platter

Sunday
Beef & Broccoli
Rice

I hope that everyone has a FABULOUS THANKSGIVING!!

MENU PLAN MONDAY

I am not including recipes or links to recipes, since I was the lucky winner of a six month subscription to Stolen Moments Menu Plan Service (http://stolenmomentsmenuplanning.com/ ) I think that it would be unethical for me to do so. Still, I want to participate in Menu Plan Mondays. Stolen Moments does give me a thorough plan, including recipes with detailed directions, and a shopping list for the week's meals. What I love most about the service was that it is customized to my serving size needs (we have a house of nine!) and also they have you fill out a form indicating your preferences, as well as things you don't like. I stated that in our family, we tend to eat a lot of Chicken Breast and Ground Beef (both are often on sale and easy to stock up the freezer with).

Sunday
Chicken and Corn Chowder
Bread Bowls

Monday
Crockpot Red Beans and Rice
Baked Okra

Tuesday
BBQ Meatballs
Loaded Potato Casserole
Peas

Wednesday
Chicken Tetrazzini

Thursday
Cheeseburger Pie
Dilly Green Beans

Friday
Pizza Braid
Side Salad

Saturday
Taco Pinwheels

Anyway, if you like the sound of my weekly menus, I would strongly encourage you to consider signing up for their service (as inexpensively as $7.95 per month!)
Make sure you let me know if you try it! I love to hear back from my readers.
